Yes, it does seem odd. During Andy's era, there were no scandals, or very few low key ones. There was nothing like the recent debates about Gays in the priesthood, or disgraced priests as pedophiles. However, from what I have read about Andy Warhol, had he lived, I think that he may continued to attend mass even after seeing how controversial the Church had become.
