Serendipity? Unseen Franz Kafka Writings Inch closer to the Light

I have it in me to be sublime talk show host, and interviewer. A really good intellectual, funny, campy, don't give a fuck, cuts to the chase, doesn't mince words, cuts through the bullshit in a George Carlin way Joyce Behar type talk show host.

I hadn't of thought of Franz Kafka in years, (Kafka esquese is now an entry word in the dictionary. So anyway, somehow I thought of Barbara Kruger used a quote twice in the new coffee table book about her, that quote is seen twice, one of the time an artwork on the side of a bus. so the quote "The point of life is that it stops," is in that genre of being a selection of words that cuts through the bullshit, is precise, exact,True with a capital T. The phrase made an impact, an impression on me as being showing the ability to sum of with a few words a profuned multi-layered Truth. How you say?

So this is why I began to think of Kafka, googled him, bought The Trial two days ago

Just getting into a pop-culture, slightly deeper than surface knowledge/ web search education about Kafka. ( It is proving hard to read his book The Trial. Not quite as ploddingly through as Pride and Prejudice but I have this mental laziness with all classic literature)

Tues. night I first googled him I read a story of some missing correspondence letters written by Kafka and left after his death at age 40, into in the hands of his last lover. I got the impression the location of the letters was uncertain.

About ten minutes after reading that website, I went back to the search page and noticed a NYT story released 5 hours ago that very afternoon. Guess what the topic of that story was?
The missing correspondence was in safety deposit boxes about to be released to the public after legal battles. Now what are the chances of that? But my life is filled with things like that when I get into one of my "historical" characters, cult figure tangents.

OK, simple, strange, odd things amuse and fascinate me.....

Story below.

Unseen Franz Kafka Writings Inch a Bit Closer to the Light

A list of manuscripts, letters and journals written by Franz Kafka, below, that languished in safe-deposit boxes in Tel Aviv and Zurich for decades will soon be released, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported. The documents have been the subject of a legal battle between the National Library in Israel and Eva Hoffe, who inherited the documents. Ms. Hoffe’s mother, Esther, was the secretary to Max Brod, a close friend of Kafka who served as executor of his estate after he died in 1924. Although Kafka requested that all his personal papers be burned, Brod, who immigrated to Israel in 1939, never complied. The District Family Court judge in Tel Aviv who heard the case ordered attorneys to prepare a detailed list of the contents of four boxes that had been stored in a Zurich bank and opened on Monday. Haaretz reported that a handwritten short story by Kafka, never before seen, is among the papers. Several more safe-deposit boxes with Kafka’s documents are also expected to be opened by the Tel Aviv court. The library contends that the Kafka papers are “cultural assets belonging to the Jewish people,” David Bloomberg, chairman of the National Library, said.

Hillary Swank, Diane Lane, Reality Shows and Reality

HIlary Swank can't seem to get decent roles between her Oscar winning performance roles.

Did Diane Lane do that salacious internet porn picture detective gritty unglamorous role to have an "assured" box office hit?
Does Ms. Swank feel pressure to have a box office hit?

Prostitutes do have to have sex with "gross" guys. That is the inhibiting factor as to why more women don't charge men--Mr Super Freakonomics.

Documentary: go to cattle call auditions. Docu. on out of work and working actors auditioning Reality Shows. Reality shows are now viable jobs for actors. Paritcularly if it is a reality show on struggling actors. Thier life of auditions and up and downs would be employment.

It an authentic Fake. Not the fake fake but the real fake. Is it an authentic fake. Is this the fake?--no it's the fake fake this is the real fake.

Film Theory, War-torn Romance: the core of the human condition.

It's not what it's about---- It is how it's about it. (That is four it's there) So says Roger Ebert about film. the art of film, storytelling. I agree because if is were not true, Filmmakers would not continue to make warfilms, coming of age stories, romances( in their many forms and guises)---Everything would have already been done. .An Going with Roger's philosophy, it's the same reason that film works as a story telling medium--everyone has a story, so there are millions of twists because of the individual personalities and characters of the story. There are that many stories out there---as many as individuals. And the one trait we share is the human condition. Examples: childhood/coming of age. love, lust sex, procreating, fear, pain, mental, physical sexual spiritual pain, disappointment, heartache longing, fear, Humans share all this. Living with these conditions under the larger context of war--and you have your war-torn romance like Atonement also a great HUMAN tragedy that is exemplified and by war. And war exemplifies and personifies on a grand scale. The human condition. Living under war and all the other mentioned human themes---What are the great ones: English Patient, Zhviago, From Here TO eternity, Has to be some European ones. Pearl Harbor with Affleck and Beckinsdale tried to be and sadly was not. Atonement tried to be and succeeded absolute . Atonement is under-rated. The long tracking shot was born out of necessity not showing off. But it made sense to do that long tracking shot there to show the vastness, the panoramic view of the war/beach scene.

Phantasmagoric: English Language word or the week. Matt Bomer provides the pretty.

Sexual frustration. Creative frustration. Eating decadent chocolate produces some of the sensations one feels when they are (enjoying) making love. I have got to get my character out there. Her neurosis could start with a nighttime dream. However, I don't envision the screenplay starting out that way. Is it cliche or whatever to start out with a sex scene? Seems a cheap attempt at grabbing attention. It worked in Before the Devil Knows You are Dead." Or did it?

Isn't our English vocab. word of the week a beauty. In Steve Watson' book "Silver Factory." He describes Flaming Creatures, a major underground/experimental film of Jack Smith, indie film pioneer-- as "phantasmagoric."

Accompanied by the pretty of Matt Bomer

Sandra Bullock, Meryl continued,

Sandra Bullock has made US box-office history after her film The Blind Side became the first solely female-led movie to rake in more than $200m (£125m), Variety reports. The milestone puts the 45-year-old star of Speed and Miss Congeniality ahead of A-list peers such as Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie and Reese Witherspoon, none of whom have managed a similar feat.

The Blind Side
Production year: 2009
Country: USA
Directors: John Lee Hancock
Cast: Quinton Aaron, Sandra Bullock

This is what I wanted to write about. And at her age too is unusual. That was mentioned in a different story. she is having the best year of her career---well good on you girl. I predict she is the sentimental favorite to win the Oscar for her performance. And why /how her film connected is a mystery. it could have easily been a movie that slipped through. Like this one with Harrison Ford. and Brenden Frasier.
Anyway. I think it is great because it is about time.
And Sandra Bulloks husband is hot,...she always seems really in love with him.

Golden Globes: Meryl Streep is flippin' HOT. And classy. Sandra Bullock

This is a photo of Meryl Streep taken last night in LA at the Golden Globe ceremony. Notice she is is holding the Golden Globe statue. She won. She was nominated 2x in the same category. She is on top of the world-- to evoke James Cameron's catch phrase. Meryl is 60 years old. Had a stellar year. Was in tons of films. Loved her acceptance speech last night. Pitch perfect, more so than Monique's. She talked about her Mother and how her Mother was like Julia Child . Meryl is one of three sexy 60 year olds along with Susan Sarandon and Helen Mirren. Mirren is down right sexy in "Calender Girls" and Susan is a hot Mother in "SpeedRacer." Really playing a woman half her age. Meryl is sexy in "It's Complicated." she said in an interview that "Bette Davis is rolling over in her grave." So so so true, If you ponder the theme of All About Eve. And course Sandra Bullok breaking these box office records this year. Unprecedented for a female star period. And Sandy's husband. Jesse James. I will tell you my reaction to him. It is unprecedented for these women at around 60 to be playing a sexual being. And shown as sexy to the audience. Sarandon plays her age--a Grandmother, in The Lovely Bones. But of course a non-traditional Grandmother type.
And I say; to all of this: Right On. hahaha so corny.
I say It's about time.
