Film Theory, War-torn Romance: the core of the human condition.

It's not what it's about---- It is how it's about it. (That is four it's there) So says Roger Ebert about film. the art of film, storytelling. I agree because if is were not true, Filmmakers would not continue to make warfilms, coming of age stories, romances( in their many forms and guises)---Everything would have already been done. .An Going with Roger's philosophy, it's the same reason that film works as a story telling medium--everyone has a story, so there are millions of twists because of the individual personalities and characters of the story. There are that many stories out there---as many as individuals. And the one trait we share is the human condition. Examples: childhood/coming of age. love, lust sex, procreating, fear, pain, mental, physical sexual spiritual pain, disappointment, heartache longing, fear, Humans share all this. Living with these conditions under the larger context of war--and you have your war-torn romance like Atonement also a great HUMAN tragedy that is exemplified and by war. And war exemplifies and personifies on a grand scale. The human condition. Living under war and all the other mentioned human themes---What are the great ones: English Patient, Zhviago, From Here TO eternity, Has to be some European ones. Pearl Harbor with Affleck and Beckinsdale tried to be and sadly was not. Atonement tried to be and succeeded absolute . Atonement is under-rated. The long tracking shot was born out of necessity not showing off. But it made sense to do that long tracking shot there to show the vastness, the panoramic view of the war/beach scene.

Dennis Hopper: A true American original individual, Jack Nicholson, H-wood Walk of Fame Ceremony

A few pictures of Dennis Hopper at his "Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame." ceremony quite recently. He does look frail and underweight. I think the prostrate cancer may bring him down. I don't understand how so many men in this day and age can beat prostrate cancer--like my Father--and it kills others. Best to you Dennis. Also a few photos of Jack Nicholson in attendance with his old friend. Jack was wearing a kick-ass Easy Rider shirt which you really can't see in the photos here. But you can see ol' Jack who is getting old and aging like the rest of us! Oh, and the Divine Viggo Mortensen was there and looks like he shared a few words to honor Dennis.

Dennis Hopper: A true American original individual

By ANTHONY McCARTNEY, AP Entertainment Writer – 3 mins ago
LOS ANGELES – Dennis Hopper is terminally ill and unable to undergo chemotherapy as he battles prostate cancer, his attorney wrote in a court filing.
Attorney Joseph Mannis wrote about the "Easy Rider" star's grave condition in a declaration filed Wednesday asserting the actor cannot be questioned by his wife's attorneys in a deposition.
The prognosis contradicts previous filings in the divorce proceedings that were bullish about Hopper's recovery chances.
Hopper, 73, and his wife, Victoria, have been locked in a bitter feud since the actor, director and artist filed to end the couple's nearly 14-year marriage in January.
He weighs barely 100 pounds and was described by his physician Dr. David Agus in the court filing as extremely weak and unable to carry on long conversations.
Agus states that undergoing a deposition "could actually threaten his ability to survive his current health crisis."
The doctor added, however, that he approved an appearance Friday by Hopper to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame because it is likely to be a positive experience.

Film Log Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore

This is MM latest film and his best. His filmmaking style has continued to evolve. The way he tells his story and POV is very tight. Very entertaining film. You both laugh and cry. The bottom line is we need to get Wall Street out of bed with Washington. They can't be legislating on the financial industry if they stand to make a profit from it. And we can't have all these former Goldman Sachs employees running the government. Talk about a hypocrite and a conflict of interest! Obama needs to get rid of Geithner and Summers!!!

Academy Awards, Hurt Locker, Avatar, Kathryn Bigelow Anthony Mackie, Meredith Viera and the Fuck-me pumps

The Hurt Locker was the perfect merge of acting, editing, sound editing, camera work--and the director overlording it. KB got to the heart of film making when she used the word "collaberative," to describe the quintessence of filmmaking. It is an artform but one that takes commerce to make hapen. It is a very expensive art to pursue because of all the COLLABORATION it involves to make it happen. And that dynamic tension, those opposing energies have been present since the beginnings of film making and commerce. i.e. the public distribution of viewing of films as entertainment for the open public masses.

Think of Anthony Mackie and Meredith Viera and the boys interview on Today. So many dang thoughts. AM flirting with MV after drinking and a long night. But hey-- she was wearing "fuckme" pumps and a tight, short ass skirt. hey just telling the trut. many men would have thought the same thing while eyeing her attire that morning--- at 5 6 am Pacific time! That is OK Anthony Mackie, I felt the same way interviewing Johnny Depp.. Oh and your man Jeremy Renner knows Colin Farell. Loved CF's tribute to JR cool.
CF just looks like he would be good in bed . LOL

The Academy went the way of Hurt Locker. All the writers and so-called experts speculated it could have gone the way of Avatar, Hurt Locker or Precious. Some even felt the Academy was in the mood for QT and IB. Up in the Air didn not win one Oscar. JC was half expecting to score big for Avatar. Precious won those two key ones.

Kate was the only one who said. " and the Oscar goes to"....instead of what everyone said last night..."and the winner is."

The former phrase is the one that plays down the competition tension. Because reall. how can you say that one performance was better than the others. You can only truthfully say that to have the nomination is the win. Anyway, loved that Kate Winslet used the phrase. I had been noticing it all night!

Film Log Protagonist by Jessica Yu

I would love to interview her.
I am a doc. fan
I love very everyday people used as a story.
The theme of "what it means to be a man," is very intriguing to me.
She is an intellectual. She read Euripedes.
And I am studying the art of story telling.
